Six to seven exhibitions a year, in dialogue with a collection built since 1971

UIMA is proud to present an extensive selection of works by Jacques Hnizdovsky (1915–1985), one of the most celebrated Ukrainian-American artists of the twentieth century, drawn from the Institute's Permanent Collection. Renowned for his masterful woodblock prints depicting cats, sheep, trees, and the natural world, Hnizdovsky's work is held in major institutions including the National Museum of American Art and Yale University. This exhibition brings together an impressive array of his prints alongside several rare paintings, marking the first time many of these pieces, including recent donations made over the past several years, have been on public view.

This exhibition is presented as part of UIMA's 55th anniversary celebration. It honors both a beloved artist and the Institute's long-standing commitment to preserving and promoting Ukrainian art and culture.
